TopNotepad also may occasionally ask you to provide information to participate in certain voluntary promotions, surveys, or contests (see the section regarding this below). What about TopNotepad's partner services or linked sites?
Why does TopNotepad gather this information?
TopNotepad's primary goal in collecting personal information is to provide you, the user, with a localized experience on our site. This includes localization of invoicing templates and compliance reports based on your country. Most of the information you provide is for your own use. Example: the business information and contact details you provide are used by the software to generate the header when you create invoices. We use your contact details only when we need to communicate with you regarding our product or our service which you are already using.
How does TopNotepad use my information?
TopNotepad uses your information to enable you to take advantage of the features available through the TopNotepad’s sites. Once you register, you are no longer anonymous to TopNotepad: you are given a User ID and are able to take full advantage of TopNotepad’s many offerings. Additional information you volunteer enables us to better customize your experience. We may also use your contact information to reach you regarding important issues about the use of our service.
We use other information we collect to get a better understanding of our user base. The more insight we have into you - the people who use TopNotepad on a daily basis - the better we can serve you. Therefore, we analyze our users' demographics, interests, and behaviour based on the information provided to us through our Web site. Our research and analysis is done on an aggregate basis, and is not intended to identify individual users.
With whom, and how, does TopNotepad share my information?
- Our Business Partners/Advertisers
If you choose to receive information from our partners, TopNotepad (or agents working on behalf of TopNotepad and under confidentiality agreements) will send you these direct mailings. TopNotepad will not provide your information to our partners unless it is necessary to complete a purchase of a partner or co-branded product/service on TopNotepad that you have ordered. This may be necessary so that they may process your orders and ship, supply, maintain, or service the goods or services that you requested. If you register directly with another company reached through the TopNotepad site, then that company will have control over the information you provide.
From time to time, we share aggregated data regarding the users and users of our services (for example, information such as the percentage of our users that are architects, or that users who choose one type of service request a related service a certain percentage of the time). Some of this data may include the data obtained as described in the "cookies" section, but no personally identifiable information is included in these types of statistics.
- Special Cases
When I registered I opted to get mailings and offers sent to me. Now I've changed my mind and don't want to get them anymore. What do I do?
It's simple! At any time, you can edit your TopNotepad profile to no longer receive such offers and mailings. Just drop us an email or unsubscribe to the mailing list.
Can I cancel my TopNotepad account?
What kinds of security precautions are in place to protect my information from hackers or prying eyes?
Your TopNotepad Profile is password protected so that you, and only you, have access. However, it may on occasion be necessary for TopNotepad employees or contractors working on behalf of TopNotepad to have access to your profile to provide you with support or to perform certain maintenance tasks. This access happens on an as-needed basis only.
Never divulge your password to anyone. Also be sure to sign out of your TopNotepad account and close your browser window when you have finished your work. This is to prevent others from accessing your personal information if you share a computer with someone else or use a workstation in a public place.
Our server vendor uses advanced security technology to ensure that your personal data remains private within our site. While no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, TopNotepad strives to protect your personal information, but cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or from our online products or services.
Are you GDPR compliant?
Passed in 2016, the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the most significant legislative change in European data protection laws since the EU Data Protection Directive (Directive 95/46/EC), introduced in 1995. The GDPR, which becomes enforceable on May 25, 2018, seeks to strengthen the security and protection of personal data in the EU and serve as a single piece of legislation for all of the EU. It will replace the EU Data Protection Directive and all the local laws relating to it.
We support the GDPR and have ensured all TopNotepad services comply with its provisions. Not only is the GDPR an important step in protecting the fundamental right of privacy for European citizens, it also raises the bar for data protection, security, and compliance in the industry.
What is TopNotepad’s role under GDPR?
We act as both a data processor and a data controller under the GDPR.
TopNotepad as a data processor: When customers use our products and services to process EU personal data, we act as a data processor. For example, we will be a processor of EU personal data and information that gets logged into our software when our user is invoicing a EU citizen. This means we will, in addition to complying with our customers' instructions, need to comply with the new legal obligations that apply directly to processors under the GDPR.
TopNotepad as a data controller: We act as a data controller for the EU customer information we collect to provide our products and services and to provide timely customer support. This customer information includes things such as customer name and contact information.
What else should I know about my privacy?

In short, if you post personal information online that is accessible to the public, you may receive unsolicited messages from other parties in return.
Ultimately, you are responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your passwords and your profile. Please be careful and responsible whenever you're online.
