1. Use of electronic systems/solutions to generate invoices (businesses should stop issuing manual invoices)
2. It is mandatory to add QA code on simplified tax invoices
3. If buyer is VAT registered, it is mandatory to add VAT number of the buyer and in this case QR code is not mandatory
-Seller’s name
-VAT registration number of the seller
-Time stamp of the Electronic Invoice or Credit/Debit Note (date and time)
-VAT total
Please note, there is no specific file format mandated for Phase 1, however, invoices must include the mandatory fields and must be issued from an electronic system meeting ZATCA’s requirements. In addition, electronic copies of all issued invoices must be stored by the taxpayer. Also, QR code is not provided by ZATCA and as per the guidelines it shall be generated by the solution or software provider. As adding QR code to an invoice is a technical requirements, you would typically need a KSA e-invoicing software such as TopNotepad built exclusively for Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
